Stephen Knight says he’s particularly sceptical that anything useful will be gained from either the coronial inquiry, or the separate Upper House inquiry into the fire.

“We’ve been down to Sydney and sat through the inquiry, and what we’re hearing is that National Parks don’t think they did anything wrong, they don’t think they have anything to learn from the fire, or from the way they handled it,” he said.

“There’s always lessons to be learned from these things.

“If you don’t apply the lessons you’ve learned, then there’s no progress.”
