This morning I contacted the NSW Coroners Office to ask when the results of the Coronial Inquiry would be released to the public. The fire in January 2013 destroyed thousands of hectares of farmland and National Park as well as 53 houses. A parliamentary inquiry was held simultaneously and at one stage was going to hold back results until after the Coroner released its findings, but then released a report earlier this year with many recommendations. Local residents have been anxiously awaiting the Coroner’s report as it will be an official acknowledgement of what actually happened.

The Coroner’s office has responded to my inquiry saying “The Coroner is currently going through submissions that have been made and is working to be able to provide a Finding in this matter by the end of September”
