Over 20,000 hectares have been burned by the Dangar Road fire and a Section 44 declared as it is proving difficult to bring under control. The section 44 allows for more fire fighting resources to be brought in from other areas, including interstate.
While the RFS reports no threat to any households, no mention is being made of the CSG facilities in close proximity. Volunteers, who wish to remain anonymous, have spoken of their concerns due to old and leaking CSG infrastructure and that they would refuse to enter the CSG area to fight any fire there due to the unknown and dangerous conditions.
The RFS is working to get a backburned area around the current fire to contain it. Smoke in the area is heavy and motorists should drive carefully and to the conditions.
