Good news today with an MRI showing that Kyle Turner, player for South Sydney Rabitohs in the NRL and ex Coonabarabran Unicorn, has a less severe injury than was first feared. Kyle suffered a high hit which caused him to have pins and needles feelings in his arms and hands. Subsequent tests have shown that he has a bulging disc that can be treated with rest and physiotherapy.
Kyle has taken many high hits that have led to several concussions in his short NRL career. As more information is learned about CTE, a progressive degenerative disease that can result from head trauma in sports, it was good to see that Kyle started wearing protective headgear at the end of last season.
While Kyle hasn’t been able to join his team mates for the World Cup Challenge in the UK, we all hope that Kyle will recover in time for this years NRL season.
