Fracking Equipment Trucks at Coonabarabran Primary School

Residents of Coonabarabran held a snap protest this morning against 2 large trucks carrying fracking infrastructure that parked overnight in front of the Coonabarabran primary school. Facebook group No 2 Gas From The Pilliga stated “These trucks have been known to use cancer causing chemicals such as BTEX, hormone disrupters, dangerous health effects and been in contact with radioactive material.”  and rallied locals to protest them parking close to where children would be.

In 2014 surveys of the outlying areas of Coonabarabran showed more than a 95% opposition to unconventional gas extraction (CSG) and the group Coonabarabran Residents Against Coal Seam Gas (CRAG) formed as a dissenting voice against CSG mining in the Pilliga and surrounds.
