Local landholder’s pastures are being eaten alive by locusts. but the locusts are not playing fair. In October the Central West Local Land Service undertook flyovers and asked property owners to report any locust activity, but it would seem these efforts have been in vain with large numbers in the area, and around and in Coonabarabran the worst.
Locusts in the area will mature to adult stage any day now, and they have not banded (swarmed) as they normally would at the numbers they currently exist in. Farmers are being asked to spray the groups of locusts that land of an afternoon/evening wherever they see them.
If you see locusts you must by law report them to the Central West Local Land Service
