The 29 year old male previously circulated as wanted in the Coonabarabran area was arrested by Coonabarabran Highway Patrol about 1.30pm on Sunday the 16th of July 2015.
The male was identified driving an Orange coloured Holden Trax sedan along the Newell Highway in Coonabarabran. The man drove furiously in an attempt to avoid Police and eventually stopped his vehicle in Gordon Street, Coonabarabran. The man ran from the vehicle with the officer giving chase on foot and arresting him soon after.
The man was placed in handcuffs and taken to Coonabarabran Police Station where the outstanding warrants were executed and he was charged with Escape Police Custody, Resist officer in execution of duty, Never licensed person drive vehicle on road and Drive Recklessly or furiously in a speed or manner dangerous for offences committed on the 10th of July in Gilgandra and on the 27th of July in Coonabarabran.
The man’s was refused bail and faced Dubbo Local Court yesterday where he was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment, suspended from driving for a further 4 years and given a section 9 bond under the supervision of probation and parole for 2 years.
